Katy Perry Streams Taylor Swift’s Latest Album, Celebrates Rekindled Friendship

From Rivalry to Harmony: Pop Stars Katy Perry and Taylor Swift Celebrate Friendship Amid Album Milestone

From Feud to Friendship: Pop Icons Perry and Swift Share Mutual Support Amid Record-Breaking Album Release

Katy Perry is showing love for Taylor Swift’s latest musical venture, Life of a Showgirl. Exactly one week after Swift dropped her 12th studio album on October 3, Perry highlighted the track “Eldest Daughter” on her Instagram Stories, signaling her continued support for her former rival turned friend. Interestingly, Perry’s post resonates personally, as she is a middle child with an older sister and younger brother.

The show of support follows Perry’s attendance at Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour in March 2024. During the event, Perry shared several backstage snaps, including a smiling selfie with Swift, captioning it: “got to see an old friend shine tonight ♥️✨.”

Perry and Swift’s once-complicated relationship, famously captured in Swift’s “Bad Blood” and Perry’s “Swish Swish,” has evolved over the years. In a July 2020 Howard Stern interview, Perry reflected on their reconciliation, explaining their mutual desire to publicly set an example for younger fans: “Gossip in life can take the elevator but the truth takes the stairs. It just takes time… We are now super friendly.”

Their journey to friendship began subtly in 2019 when Perry sent a “literal olive branch” to Swift’s Reputation tour. Subsequent casual encounters, Perry noted, strengthened their bond: “We have so much in common — there’s probably only 10 people in the world that have the same things in common. I was like, ‘We should really be friends over that and share our strengths and our weaknesses and our challenges. We can help each other get through a lot.’”

The pair also reunited in Swift’s You Need to Calm Down music video in 2018, where Perry playfully donned a burger costume alongside Swift dressed as french fries — a symbolic nod to their restored camaraderie.

Swift’s Life of a Showgirl has already set streaming records. Within 11 hours of release, the album became Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single day for the year, underscoring the continued influence and reach of the pop superstar. With Perry’s public support, it’s clear that the pop icons’ friendship is now an integral part of their shared narrative — a story of reconciliation, mutual admiration, and shared artistry.
