A lockdown friendship turned lasting bond, with bread, kindness, and genuine connection at its heart.
Zoë Kravitz is opening up about one of Taylor Swift’s most unexpected — yet much admired — talents: baking.
During her August 20 appearance on BBC Radio 2’s The Scott Mills Breakfast Show with her Caught Stealing costar Austin Butler, the 36-year-old actress revealed that the 14-time Grammy winner isn’t just a global superstar — she’s also a master of sourdough bread.
“She does make very good sourdough bread,” Kravitz shared, calling Swift’s kitchen skills “insane.” She added that the pop icon recently sent her a fresh homemade loaf — just “a week ago.”
Butler, 34, was immediately intrigued, exclaiming, “I wanna try that sourdough.” Kravitz reassured him that Swift would be more than happy to oblige.
For Kravitz, Swift’s sourdough gifts aren’t about celebrity glamor — they’re about genuine friendship.
“She’s a really good friend. She makes really good bread, and she shares it with her friends,” the Big Little Lies actress explained. Butler called Swift’s generosity “amazing,” while host Mills was struck by the thought of receiving such a thoughtful gift from the world’s biggest pop star.
“Imagine anyone sending you bread,” Kravitz said, highlighting the beauty of the gesture rather than the fame of the baker.
Their bond goes beyond bread. In a 2022 GQ interview, Kravitz revealed that she and Swift became especially close during the pandemic lockdown in London.
“She was my pod,” Kravitz recalled. “She was a very important part of being in London, just having a friend that I could see and that would make me home-cooked meals and dinner on my birthday.”
That shared time cemented a friendship rooted in warmth, simplicity, and support.
Fans recently got a glimpse of Swift’s love for homemaking when she appeared on her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast. She spoke about her “granny hobbies” — activities like sewing purses and baby blankets, painting, cooking, and, of course, baking sourdough bread, a passion she describes as a “very deep love.”
For Swift, these hobbies aren’t just pastimes; they’re extensions of how she shows care for those closest to her.
Whether through fresh-baked bread or pandemic companionship, Kravitz made it clear that Swift’s most “insane” skill isn’t her superstardom — it’s her ability to be a truly thoughtful and generous friend.
