Doechii Stuns at Lollapalooza 2025 with ’90s Hip-Hop Tribute and Surprise Tour Announcement

Rising rap star Doechii electrifies Lollapalooza with a nostalgic '90s tribute and surprises fans by unveiling her first headlining tour, “Live from the Swamp,” kicking off this October.

The genre-bending rapper closed her show with the reveal of her first-ever headlining tour, “Live from the Swamp,” launching this October.

On Saturday, August 2, Doechii set the T-Mobile stage ablaze at Lollapalooza 2025 in Chicago with a genre-defying, high-energy performance that doubled as a love letter to 1990s hip-hop, rap, and R&B. The 26-year-old rapper not only delivered a flawless, fan-favorite-filled set — but also surprised thousands of festivalgoers with the announcement of her debut headlining tour, Live from the Swamp, kicking off October 14.

“Before we get out of here, I want to make an announcement. I’m gonna be going on tour on Oct. 14. What’s up, y’all? Bye!” Doechii declared just before leaving the stage, leaving fans buzzing. Moments later, digital signage throughout the venue teased the tour with a countdown to August 4, when full dates and ticket info are set to be released.

Throughout her 50-minute set, Doechii kept energy levels sky-high with standout performances of her hits including “Nissan Altima,” “Anxiety,” and “Denial Is a River.” A standout moment came when she playfully referenced her viral Met Gala umbrella moment — bringing out rapper JT from behind a stage prop to perform their duet “Alter Ego.”

Doechii’s announcement was one of several unforgettable moments at this year’s Lollapalooza, which kicked off July 31 with Tyler, the Creator headlining. On Friday, Olivia Rodrigo shocked fans by inviting Weezer on stage during her set, while Korn made a nostalgic return after 28 years. That same night, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson was spotted vibing in the crowd during T-Pain’s Bud Light Stage performance.

But Saturday was Doechii’s night. Her performance drew comparisons to Chappell Roan’s breakout moment at last year’s Lollapalooza. Elsewhere on the bill, TWICE made festival history as the first all-female K-pop group to headline, with Momo and Nayeon going viral for a bold dance break and crowd-pleasing twerk session.

Lady Gaga — a long-time admirer of Doechii — previously praised her as “immediately legendary,” saying her music “struck me to the core.” The pair were last seen together at the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards, igniting collaboration rumors.

With Live from the Swamp Tour on the horizon, and her Lollapalooza set hailed as one of the best of the weekend, Doechii’s star continues to rise at warp speed. Festival sponsors like Dove added flair with activations like their Hot Seats campaign — previously seen at Coachella — while fans danced and spritzed themselves with Dove’s Whole Body Deo collection amid nonstop performances by artists like A$AP Rocky, Sabrina Carpenter, and Rodrigo.

As Lollapalooza 2025 concludes on Sunday, August 3, one thing is certain — Doechii just leveled up, and the world is watching.
