Pete Davidson’s Dream Comes True: Embracing Fatherhood with Heart, Humor, and Hope

Pete Davidson is stepping into the most personal role of his life: becoming a father. The former Saturday Night Live star, who’s made headlines for his bold comedy and public relationships, is now overjoyed to announce a new chapter—one that fulfills a long-standing dream.

Davidson and his girlfriend, model Elsie Hewitt, are expecting their first child, a joyous revelation Hewitt shared on July 16 via social media. Speaking to E! News, Davidson described the moment as nothing short of life-changing.
“Everybody’s just been superexcited for me, because they know it’s been my dream,” he said. “I’m very lucky and very, very happy.”

A Dream Years in the Making

Davidson has never hidden his desire to become a father. In a 2022 interview on Kevin Hart’s talk show Hart to Heart, he confessed, “[I’m] definitely a family guy. My favorite thing ever, which I have yet to achieve, I wanna have a kid. That’s like my dream… It would be so fun. Dress up the little dude. I’m so excited for that chapter.”

For Davidson, the dream is rooted in something deeper. His own father, a firefighter, died during the 9/11 attacks when Davidson was just 7 years old. Since then, the comedian has been candid about the emotional impact of growing up without that guiding presence. Now, he’s ready to provide for his child the love and care he longed for.
“I assume you just try to give them what you didn’t have, and what you didn’t like, not do it,” he shared.

Support from Comedy’s Inner Circle

One of the voices cheering him on is longtime friend and fellow SNL alum Adam Sandler. Davidson noted that Sandler, who has two teenage daughters with wife Jackie, offered him “some great advice.” Other close friends have echoed support, telling him he’s going to be great at it—and Davidson believes them.

“They all just have been like, ‘You’re going to be great at this. It’s the best thing you’ll ever do in your life,’” he said.

Shifting Priorities and Slowing Down

The father-to-be is also taking stock of his career and the lessons that come with fame. In a candid 2024 interview with W Magazine, Davidson admitted to feeling “oversaturated” in the public eye and regretted saying yes to every opportunity.
“When you’re first coming up, and getting all these offers, it’s hard to say no, because you’re hungry. I made the mistake of doing literally everything. Now I’m older and wiser, and I’m realizing that less is more.”

His focus now is on meaningful work—whether that’s film, stand-up, or business ventures—and leaving behind the superficial notoriety that once defined him.
“I don’t want to be this f—ing loser who just dates people. That’s not who I am,” Davidson asserted. “I just want to be known for doing good work.”

Looking Ahead with Purpose

Davidson, who stars in the upcoming horror film The Home, has been publicly linked to Hewitt since March 2025. The couple has kept a relatively low profile, making occasional appearances at New York Knicks games and social events like Dave Navarro’s wedding in Scotland.

But with fatherhood on the horizon, Davidson is welcoming the change of pace—and heart.
“Being able to take care of something and show it the childhood I didn’t have… that’s what I’m most excited about,” he said.

As Davidson prepares to welcome his first child, he does so with gratitude, wisdom, and a vision for a more grounded, purpose-driven life. It’s not just about becoming a dad—it’s about becoming the man he always wanted to be.
