The pair appeared all smiles on the red carpet just days after reports surfaced claiming Brown filed a harassment and bullying complaint against her longtime co-star.
Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour, the dynamic duo behind Stranger Things’ beloved characters Eleven and Jim Hopper, appeared united and cheerful at the Los Angeles premiere of the show’s fifth and final season — despite recent controversy surrounding their off-screen relationship.
Days earlier, reports surfaced alleging that Brown, 21, had filed a “harassment and bullying claim” against Harbour, 50, prompting an internal investigation before filming began on the final season. According to The Daily Mail, Brown’s formal complaint led to an inquiry that lasted several months, with a personal representative reportedly accompanying her on set during production.
“There were pages and pages of accusations,” an unnamed source told the outlet, adding that none of the allegations involved any “sexual impropriety.”

Yet, as cameras flashed on premiere night, the two actors seemed to put rumors aside. Images from the event captured Brown and Harbour smiling, laughing, and even embracing as fans cheered. Netflix shared a clip of their heartfelt hug on social media, which quickly went viral among the show’s dedicated fanbase.
Their seemingly warm rapport at the event stands in stark contrast to the recent allegations — and to many, it was a reminder of the complex, years-long bond they’ve shared since the series debuted in 2016.
Harbour has often spoken fondly of Brown, describing their connection as father-daughter–like. “I’ve always felt this kind of deep fatherly affection for her,” he said in a 2021 interview on That Scene with Dan Patrick. Brown was just 12 when the first season premiered, while Harbour’s character, Hopper, served as her protector on-screen.
Brown, too, has acknowledged the intensity of their relationship. Speaking at PaleyFest during the show’s third season, she described their dynamic as both emotional and authentic. “We went through so many different emotions,” she said, per Refinery29. “We get angry at each other — we are like father and daughter. We would express our feelings on and off the set, and those scenes were so raw and real that the reward is the scenes.”
Meanwhile, Harbour, who is currently navigating a highly publicized divorce from singer Lily Allen, has often reflected on how his role in Stranger Things gave him a chance to explore a paternal side of himself. “It’s a funny thing,” he said. “Because you don’t have, let’s say, children… this was unlocking in me as a human being a love that was human but that was pure.”
Despite the off-screen turmoil, both actors appeared committed to celebrating the culmination of a cultural phenomenon. Stranger Things has not only defined a generation of television but also launched Brown into global superstardom.
The first part of Stranger Things Season 5 debuts on Netflix on November 26, promising to bring the Hawkins saga to a thrilling — and emotional — conclusion.
