Between an action thriller and a documentary, the film delves deep into Christophe Rocancourt’s life, exploring the psychology and charisma that enabled him to deceive celebrities, socialites, and even the law. David Serero’s direction brings this compelling narrative to life, blending drama, intrigue, and a nuanced portrayal of Rocancourt’s complex character. The film is a new variation of a psychological thriller, action, documentary, spontaneous interviews, and enormous (unexpected) emotions.

Audience members were captivated by the film’s exploration of morality, identity, and the consequences of living a life built on deception. The event marked the beginning of what is expected to be a successful U.S. run for “ROCANCOURT, The Film,” with critics already praising its direction, performances, and the depth of its storytelling.

Serero’s film captures the essence of a man who lived by lies yet fascinated everyone around him. The film is not just a biopic; it is a commentary on the allure of wealth and power and the psychological complexities of a man who constantly reinvented himself. Serero’s direction is sharp and confident, navigating the fine line between drama and action. He masterfully illustrates Rocancourt’s rise and fall with a blend of drama and introspection, keeping the audience entertained and reflective. Between car-pursuit, fights, and police investigation, Serero’s tight filmmaking editing does not let you rest for a breath. Star of the eponym film, Christophe Rocancourt delivers a compelling performance with charisma and audacity. He is charming yet manipulative, ambitious yet hollow. Visually, Rocancourt is a treat. The cinematography is sleek, evoking the luxury of the high society circles Rocancourt infiltrated. From luxurious parties to intimate moments of Rocancourt’s self-reflection, the film captures the grandeur of his scams and the emptiness that eventually consumes him.

One of the film’s strengths is its refusal to paint Rocancourt as a one-dimensional villain. Instead, it presents him as a complex figure—a product of his ambition, upbringing, and the culture of materialism that values appearance over substance. The director is passionate about his subject. The narrative delves into the motivations behind Rocancourt’s actions, offering a psychological portrait of a man driven by the need for recognition and power while exposing the fragility of his constructed persona.

David Serero’s Rocancourt, The Film is a gripping, stylish tale of ambition, deception, and the human cost of living a lie. It’s a fascinating look at one of the most notorious con men of the 20th century, brought to life with flair and nuance.  This film is Serero’s “Hollywood Ticket.” Yet, he shares his life between New York and Paris. “I plan to spend a third of my season in LA and bring my theatre works.” His recent movie releases were awards-winning films: The United States of Elie Tahari, Between The Notes (about pianist Hélène Grimaud), The Art Documentary about sculptor Richard Orlinski, The Film-Make-Her (about film director Lisa Azuelos).

Among his upcoming movie releases are LA VIS COMICA about French comedian Christian Clavier (starring Jean Reno and some of the most renowned French and directors of France), a documentary about fashion designer Jeff Hamilton returning to his Moroccan roots; LE CERVEAU 2.0, a police investigation film about Gregory Zaoui’s Carbon tax scheme; a biopic of the iconic French singer Serge Lama; a musical documentary about the Broadway legend Tovah Feldshush, are few of the many films David Serero is working on 24/7.

He recently completed a successful Off-Broadway run of his new play, The Trial of Eichmann, at the Center for Jewish History with the American Sephardi Federation (his partners celebrate ten years together). His next stage works for season 2024/25 include his own  plays about boxer Muhammad Ali, “I, ALI,” his play about fashion designer Gianni Versace, his play about Captain Dreyfus’s life adapted on stage, and his Jewish adaptation of Hamlet, which he called “Chaïm-let.”  Serero is a workaholic who works fast and friendly. He also released the Cast Album Recording of the world-premiere English adaptation of French’s popular musical “The Ten Commandments, The Musical”(Les Dix Commandements) with music by Pascal Obispo (original French lyrics by Patrice Guirao & Lionel Florence), which Serero brought to the stage in 2022 in New York. A film of this musical’s performance is also being released.
