Desislava Tosheva: The Designer Behind Caviar Couture Ready to Conquer Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week

From a prom dress dilemma to international acclaim, Desislava Tosheva’s journey in fashion is nothing short of inspiring.

Driven by her early love and passion for fashion and entrepreneurship, Desislava Tosheva embarked on the path of Haute Couture at the young age of eighteen when she founded Caviar Couture Fashion House. In her quest to find the perfect graduation dress, Desislava discovered a gap in the Bulgarian market. She recalls, “When I was eighteen, I was looking for a prom dress. After a long examination, I found that what was offered on the market was in two polar opposites: on the one hand, the dresses were extremely expensive, but in my opinion, the prices did not match their designs and quality; and on the other hand, they were characterized by old-fashioned designs, plain fabrics, and low-quality workmanship.”

This seminal moment changed the trajectory of her life and launched her career in fashion and entrepreneurship. Desislava realized that she never found the “Golden Mean” and decided to create a fashion house that would incorporate the principles of haute couture dressmaking, but at prices accessible to the Bulgarian market. Self-taught in the intricacies of tailoring, fashion design, and the specificity of different fabrics, she quickly immersed herself in practical experience, launching her venture with immediate success.

Meanwhile, with the development of the Fashion House, she completed her master’s degree at the prestigious University of St. Andrews, where the honorary members of the British royal family, Prince William and Kate Middleton, also graduated. Today, at the age of 26, the respected French magazine L’Officiel Paris includes her in their “Top Five Game-Changing Female Fashion Designers.”

On February 28, 2024, Desislava Tosheva received the prestigious “Golden Martenitsa” award from the “Made in Bulgaria” Union for her significant contribution to the Bulgarian business industry. The brand was honored in the category “Small enterprise with unique production that has established itself on the international market.” The prize was presented by the Vice-President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mrs. Iliana Yotova, in the presence of representatives from the Bulgarian political and business elite. President Rumen Radev personally congratulated Desislava on her success. He then addressed the audience, saying, “We see how, with a lot of creativity, innovative methods, the most modern forms of management, and corporate social responsibility, Bulgarian companies succeed in creating a product, sometimes boutique, but at a world-class level.”

Upon receiving the award, Desislava shared: “Thank you for the honor and recognition! This award means a lot to me! In addition to being a recognition of the hard work I have put in over the years, it also serves as motivation: setting an example that in Bulgaria it is possible to do business that is competitive enough to present itself on a global level.”
