Pop star Sabrina Carpenter calls Miss Piggy an “icon” in playful teaser as ABC and Disney+ gear up for the February 4 premiere
The beloved Muppets are back, and they’re bringing a star-studded twist. In the first teaser for the upcoming The Muppet Show special, pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter joins the iconic Miss Piggy in a fun-filled snippet that aired during Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest.
Throughout the teaser, Carpenter immerses herself in the Muppets’ signature shenanigans, donning matching outfits alongside Miss Piggy. At one point, the singer praises the diva, calling her an “icon,” to which Piggy graciously responds, “You’re too sweet. Go on.” The playful banter captures the spirit of the Muppets, blending Carpenter’s contemporary charm with the timeless humor of the puppet legends.

Carpenter’s cameo comes months after her humorous “arrest” of Miss Piggy during the final show of her Short n’ Sweet Tour in Los Angeles. Onstage, before performing her hit “Juno,” she singled out the Muppet, declaring, “You guys are so beautiful it should be a crime. Like you, gorgeous. I’d know that face anywhere!” In the teaser, the gag continues as Bobo the Bear handcuffs Miss Piggy, quipping, “Let’s go, Pig… Tell it to the judge, sister.”
The teaser also features a cameo from Seth Rogen, executive producer of the special. In a conversation with Fozzie Bear, Rogen admits, “It’s always been a dream of mine to be here,” to which Fozzie cheekily replies, “Ooh, got any other dreams?” Rogen has shared on Instagram that he has spent nearly a decade working to revive the show, and this special marks a major step toward realizing that vision.

Kermit the Frog teased that while this event is a one-off, the future could hold more episodes: “The Muppet Show may be starting again, depending on how tonight goes.”
The Muppet Show special is set to premiere on ABC and Disney+ on Wednesday, February 4, bringing nostalgia, laughter, and celebrity cameos to fans both old and new. With Carpenter, Miss Piggy, and Rogen leading the charge, the magic of the Muppets is poised for a memorable return.
