The actor reflects on love, co-parenting, and resilience while promoting new boxing drama The Cut
Orlando Bloom is speaking candidly for the first time about his split from fiancée Katy Perry, reassuring fans that the former couple remains united in love and respect despite going their separate ways.
During a recent appearance on NBC’s TODAY to promote his upcoming psychological boxing drama The Cut, Bloom, 48, was asked by host Craig Melvin how he was faring following the highly publicized end of his nine-year relationship with the pop superstar.
“I’m great, man. I’m so grateful,” Bloom said with a smile. “We have the most beautiful daughter. You know, when you leave everything on the field, like I did in this movie, I feel grateful for all of it.”
Bloom emphasized that he and Perry, 40, remain close: “We’re going to be great. It’s nothing but love.”
The pair, who ended their engagement in June, share daughter Daisy Dove, 5. Bloom is also father to Flynn, 14, his son from his previous marriage to model Miranda Kerr.
The couple first met in 2016 at a Golden Globes after-party, where Perry famously recalled Bloom stealing one of her In-N-Out burgers. “He wasn’t even sitting at our table — he just swoops in and he grabs it. I’m like, ‘Hey, that’s my burger!’” she laughed in a 2019 interview.
Their romance blossomed quickly, culminating in a Valentine’s Day engagement in 2019. But in June 2025, their representatives confirmed the split, adding that the stars would “focus on co-parenting.”
In recent weeks, Bloom has shared reflective posts on social media about loneliness and the “human soul” following the separation, while Perry has kept busy with her international Lifetimes Tour. The singer also made headlines for participating in a controversial all-female trip to space aboard Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin, joined by Gayle King and Lauren Sánchez.
Bloom, meanwhile, has immersed himself in his craft, taking on a grueling role in The Cut, a film about a former boxing champion consumed by his quest for redemption. The role demanded intense physical preparation, including a 30-pound weight loss.
“It was one of those times in life where I was like, ‘Well, I’m just going to throw it all at the wall and just see what sticks,’” Bloom explained. “And most of it was me sliding to the floor by the end of it.”
While their love story may have ended, Bloom and Perry continue to show admiration and respect for each other — a sentiment Bloom was keen to underline. “It’s nothing but love,” he repeated.
With Perry on tour and Bloom in theaters this Friday with The Cut, both stars appear focused on their passions while prioritizing their shared role as parents to Daisy Dove.
