Eiza González Pranks James Marsden with Fake Car Crash Call: “You’re Gonna Give Me a Heart Attack!”

Eiza González recently took part in an Elle video segment where she had to prank call her closest friends, and one unlucky participant was none other than James Marsden. The Paradise and X-Men star found himself caught in a whirlwind of chaos as González frantically told him that she had just crashed into a friend’s car—and then fled the scene.

Marsden, taken aback by the revelation, tried to offer calm, rational advice. “Oh, well. I think… Uh, here’s what I think. I think you just… We call him and say, ‘Hey, I did this and totally blacked out and panicked and I’m so sorry,’” he stuttered, as González dramatically placed a hand on her heart. “I think the sooner you do that the better, and he’ll totally understand and know that it’s coming from you.”

Sensing his hesitation, González took the prank up a notch, asking if she could simply lie her way out of the situation. “James, James, it was so bad. Like, I totaled the car,” she added, sending Marsden deeper into panic mode.

Ever the optimist, Marsden pointed out that since she hit a friend’s car, at least it wasn’t a stranger who might sue her. But his attempt to reassure her only provided more prank ammunition. “Do you think he’s gonna sue me?” González gasped. “Do you think he’s gonna ask me to pay for it?”

Marsden, still trying to navigate the chaotic conversation, explained that someone would have to cover the damages. That’s when González delivered her ultimate punchline. “Can you pay for it for me?” she asked, causing Marsden to fumble for an answer.

“Um… I think you’re just gonna have to… I mean, one of your insurance companies will figure it out,” Marsden said, clearly struggling to make sense of the request.

A laughing González finally revealed the prank, leaving Marsden groaning in exasperation. “I started to go off the rails when you said, ‘You think you’ll pay half of it with me?’” he admitted. “You’re gonna give me a f—ing heart attack! I’m like, what the hell. What if I said, ‘Do not bring it up, baby, just hit the road!’”
