Mia McEwen The Latina Beat of Christmas

Seventeen and shining brighter than ever

Mia McEwen presents “Dear Santa”, the new Latina face of Christmas releases her latest self-written project.

“Dear Santa” is available now on all digital platforms.

Mia returns stronger than ever and is preparing for her visit to Miami, where she will appear exclusively on Univision’s Despierta América and begin a media tour to present her new musical proposal.

After winning over the public last year with her album Mia’s Favorite Christmas Songs, performed in English and filled with holiday classics, Mia McEwen returns this season with her new musical concept: an original Spanish song written by herself titled “Dear Santa”.

This new single marks an important artistic turn in Mia’s career.

Inspired by her Latin roots and her desire to connect with the Hispanic audience, she presents a joyful, rhythmic, and contagious piece with merengue touches that promises to make everyone dance during Christmas celebrations.

“Dear Santa” is a musical letter where Mia writes to Santa Claus asking for true love after a few disappointments, expressed with humor, hope, and joy. It is a relatable universal story told through the sensitivity and authenticity of a young artist who lives Christmas with emotion and rhythm.

A Christmas beating to the rhythm of the Caribbean, the song blends modern arrangements with tropical influences and vibrant production that highlight Mia’s luminous voice.

Through this new project, the artist aims to spread joy and celebrate the warmth of Christmas from a Latin perspective full of energy, color, and optimism. “Dear Santa” is not only a holiday single but a statement of identity. “Last year I shared my love for Christmas from my American side. This time, I want to do it from my Latin heart, with rhythm, color, and happiness,” says Mia.

“I want this song to make people feel the joy and magic of Christmas, to get everyone dancing, and to revive that hope of believing again in true love.”

At 17 years old, Mia McEwen continues building her artistic career with international training that includes studies at Juilliard, Frost School of Music, and the Sweetland Institute in Italy.

Mia is ready for her first media tour in Miami, with an exclusive presentation of “Dear Santa” on Univision’s Despierta América. She has also been invited by the Broadway Star Project in New York to perform in December alongside other professional talents, reinforcing her presence in the international musical and theatrical scene.

With “Dear Santa,” Mia McEwen reveals her talent as a singer-songwriter, offering a fresh and original proposal that combines her vocal technique with natural charisma. The song invites audiences to embrace the holiday season with joy, hope, and movement, celebrating the brightest essence of Christmas.

“Dear Santa” is now available on all digital music platforms and the official video can be found on YouTube and other video platforms.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH MIA MCEWEN

1. “Dear Santa” has such joyful energy. What inspired you to write it?

My love for Christmas was definitely the first spark. This season inspires me so much. I wanted to capture that feeling we all get during the holidays when everything feels a little more magical and hopeful. I thought, why not turn that into a letter to Santa asking for something we all secretly wish for? A real, genuine love.
The song is playful, sweet, and full of the joy I feel every Christmas season.

2. This song is in Spanish while last year’s album was in English. What was it like switching languages for your music?

Honestly, it felt amazing. English is a big part of who I am, but Spanish is the language of my roots and my heart. Singing in Spanish allows me to express emotion in a warmer and more vibrant way, and it brings out a different side of me, one that feels joyful, expressive, and very connected to my identity.
English will always matter to me, but this year I really wanted to highlight my Latin side and let people hear that part of who I am as an artist.

3. “Dear Santa” mixes merengue with Christmas vibes. How did you come up with that sound?

I built the sound by really exploring what I wanted the song to feel like. Every detail mattered to me: the rhythm, the energy, the instruments, so I took my time shaping something joyful and true to who I am. I grew up surrounded by Latin music, but also 80s rock, Broadway musical soundtracks, and artists like Selena Quintanilla, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Ariana Grande, and Queen, one of my very favorites.
All of those influences shaped the way I hear and create music. I have never wanted to limit myself to one style. I love mixing sounds, experimenting with ideas, and blending different worlds together. That is how the song developed its merengue roots, holiday sparkle, and a modern pop feel with hints of my other inspirations.
In the end, it became a sound that truly reflects who I am: fun, rhythmic, festive, and full of the influences that have inspired me throughout my life.

4. You ask Santa for true love in the song. Is that based on real experiences?

Let’s just say it comes from a very relatable place. I think everyone has moments where they hope for a connection that feels real. The holidays always make those feelings stronger, so writing about it felt fun and genuine at the same time.

5. You have trained at Juilliard, Frost School of Music, and the Sweetland Institute in Italy. How has all this international training shaped you?

Training in different countries and learning from so many incredible teachers opened my mind in ways I never expected. Every place taught me something unique: discipline, storytelling, technique, versatility.
From all these different methods, I have been able to take the best of each one and blend them into something that feels like my own style. Every teacher I have worked with has left a mark on me, and I have learned something valuable from each of them.
All of that has shaped who I am today as an artist, and I believe you should never stop learning or evolving. That curiosity is what keeps you growing and becoming better.

6. How does your Latin heritage influence your music and creativity?

My Latin heritage influences absolutely everything I do. Being Latina means joy, rhythm, warmth. It is a way of feeling and experiencing life. Whenever I write or perform, that energy comes out naturally.
It gives my music color, passion, and a strong sense of connection. It is not only part of my background. It is a big part of my artistic identity and the way I express myself on stage.

7. You are doing a media tour in Miami, including Despierta América. What can fans expect from those performances?

Fans can expect a lot of fun and a lot of heart. Dear Santa is such a lively, energetic song, and performing it live is always a celebration.
Being on Despierta América is a huge milestone for me. It is a show I grew up watching, so being invited is incredibly special. In every performance, I put my whole heart into it. I want people to feel the joy and gratitude behind everything I do.

8. You will also be performing in New York with the Broadway Star Project. How do you balance music and theater?

Both worlds complement each other for me. Theater taught me how to tell stories through emotion and intention, and music allows me to express my voice and my feelings in a more personal way.
Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, and I have always been passionate about theater too, so being able to combine both is a dream. I do not feel like I have to choose. Each one makes me stronger in the other, and together they shape the artist I am becoming.

9. You are only 17 and have already achieved so much. What advice would you give to young artists?

Believe in yourself, but also believe in the work. Talent opens the door, but discipline keeps you inside. Dreams come true only when you work hard, stay focused, and stay dedicated.
Stay true to who you are, stay curious, and surround yourself with people who lift you up and help you grow. And most importantly, enjoy the journey.

10. What do you hope people feel when they listen to Dear Santa this holiday season?

I hope they feel joy. I hope they dance. I hope they smile. And I hope they love the song as much as I loved creating it.
Most of all, I hope it reminds people to believe in love and in the beautiful things that can happen during the holidays.
