ALESSANDRA VILLEGAS
After conquering mornings on Telemundo and then stepping away from the spotlight to prioritize the role she treasures most — her family — Alessandra Villegas is back where millions first fell in love with her: on the set of Hoy Día, the network’s number-one morning show.
Her return isn’t just a casting decision; it’s an answer to a clamor from fans who never stopped asking for her. But Alessandra’s comeback goes far beyond television. While the cameras were off, her entrepreneurial side was quietly building an empire: VA by Ale Villegas, her line of luxury handbags manufactured in Italy, has exploded in sales, presence, and international buzz, turning her into a bona fide fashion force.
Today, Alessandra is balancing live TV, a booming business, and a deeply rooted family life with a grace that feels both aspirational and refreshingly real. Radiant, grounded, and more powerful than ever, she tells us how it feels to be living what she calls “the best moment” of her life — and why, this time, she’s doing everything on her own terms.

1. You’re back on Hoy Día after several years dedicated mainly to your family. When you walked onto the set that first day, what went through your mind and your heart?
For me, it’s been like a complete cycle—like closing a circle. I was on Telemundo mornings for almost four years when I was barely 22, and honestly, today I return from a different place both personally and professionally. Obviously, so many experiences have passed in both facets of my life, and I think they make me more than ready to be one of the main hosts of the show. Plus, I’m very happy because the production team and the talent team make me feel so confident. Today, I think I return as a much more capable Alessandra for this type of program. Being a mom, having had so many different professional experiences, I feel like I’m a woman much more confident in myself and ready to give the audience everything I have inside—and more. I’m so happy; I feel so blessed that life has put me back in a place that’s always been so special to me—like Telemundo’s morning show, Hoy Día. And what fills me with the most emotion is that I feel this team—both production and hosts—are key. There’s a very special energy on the show. I think each of us plays an incredibly important and unique role, and each of us kind of understands and knows it. We all try to empower each other, and I think this is what will—and has—created that magic, placing Hoy Día as the number one morning show after so much time.
2. Your fans were very vocal about wanting you back on television. How aware were you of that love and demand during your time away, and did it influence your decision to return?
Absolutely. I’ve always felt incredibly connected to my audience, even during the time I stepped away. Their messages, their comments, the constant “when are you coming back?”—it was impossible not to feel that love. And I won’t lie, it touched me deeply. It reminded me that what we do as communicators goes beyond a screen. That connection definitely played a role in my decision, because at the end of the day, we come back for the people who have been there all along.

3. Stepping away at the height of a TV career isn’t easy. What made you say, “I need this time for my family,” and how did that period change you as a woman, a mother, and a host?
At that moment in my life, I felt very clearly that my family needed the best of me—not what was left of me. And for me, that was a very powerful realization. Stepping away from live morning television wasn’t easy, because I truly love that energy and connection, but I also understood that this season of my life required a different kind of presence. That said, I never fully stepped away from work. I continued creating, just in formats that gave me more flexibility. I co-produced and hosted my own show on HOLA TV, Espléndida, and from that, a travel special, Espléndida Viajera, was born. Those projects allowed me to keep growing professionally while also being present for my family, because they weren’t live shows and gave me more control over my time. That period transformed me completely. It made me more grounded, more intentional, and more connected to what truly matters. As a mother, it taught me the value of being present. As a woman, it reminded me that choosing your family is also a form of growth. And as a host, I believe it gave me a deeper perspective, more empathy, and a much stronger sense of purpose. Today, I return to live television from a much fuller, more aligned place.
4. Now that you’re back on live TV, how is your approach to the job different from the Alessandra we saw years ago on Hoy Día? Have your priorities or on-camera energy shifted?
Yes, without a doubt. I think before, I approached television from a place of excitement, ambition, and the desire to prove myself. Today, I return from a place of certainty. I no longer feel the need to prove that I belong—I know who I am, I know what I bring, and I know the value of my voice. That changes everything. My energy on camera is still very natural, very connected, very me—but now it’s more centered. I’m more present, I listen more, I trust the moment more. And I think that makes my connection with the audience even more genuine.
5. Let’s talk about VA by Ale Villegas. How did the idea of creating your own Italian-manufactured handbag line begin, and at what point did you realize, “This isn’t just a side project — this is a real global brand”?
VA by Ale Villegas began as a very personal vision—to create a piece that could accompany a modern woman through all aspects of her life. I’ve always believed that what we wear and carry should not only be beautiful, but also functional and empowering. Choosing Italy was essential, because I wanted to honor true craftsmanship and create a product that stands for quality. The moment it became more than a side project was when I saw it take on a life of its own. When the brand started speaking to women in different parts of the world, when it started growing beyond expectations—that’s when I understood it had the foundation to become a global brand.
6. Your bags are designed in your image: elegant, practical, and modern. How much of your personal story — as a working woman, mother, and TV personality — is reflected in each piece of VA by Ale?
I would say completely. Every piece of VA by Ale Villegas is a reflection of my life and the woman I am today. I’m a working woman, a mother, and someone who is constantly moving between different roles throughout the day. So when I design, I’m thinking about real life—about what we actually need as women to feel both comfortable and confident. I want a bag that works with you, that transitions with you, that supports your lifestyle without sacrificing elegance. There’s also a very emotional side to it. VA is not just about fashion, it’s about identity. It’s about feeling put together even on the busiest days, about carrying something that reminds you of your strength, your femininity, your versatility. And of course, my background in television has influenced the aesthetic—there’s a sense of polish and presence—but it’s balanced with practicality, because my life off camera is just as important. So yes, every piece carries a part of my story. And I think that’s why women connect with the brand in such a real way, because it’s not designed from an idea—it’s designed from a lived experience.

7. With Hoy Día, a thriving fashion brand, and family life, your schedule must be intense. What does balance look like for you now, and what boundaries have you learned to set to protect your well-being?
Balance, for me, is not about doing everything—it’s about being present in what truly matters. My schedule is full, but I’ve learned to be intentional with my time and energy. I prioritize my family, I protect my peace, and I’m no longer afraid to say no to what doesn’t align with my values. Today, balance looks like living and working from a place of clarity, not pressure—and that has made all the difference.
8. You’re experiencing a double success: a powerful TV comeback and a skyrocketing business. Do you feel this is the best moment of your career so far, and what does “success” mean to you today compared to when you started?
Yes, I truly do feel this is one of the best moments of my life and career. Not just because of the opportunities, but because today I’m living them from a much more grounded, fulfilled place. When I was starting out, success probably meant achievement, growth, and recognition. Today, it means something much deeper. It means being able to do what I love while staying connected to who I am, my family, and the life I truly want to build. I also see my digital platforms, especially TikTok, as a fundamental part of my business today. It’s been incredible to not only connect with my audience there, but to actually build and strengthen a real business through those platforms. For me now, success is not just about shining—it’s about feeling aligned, at peace, and proud of what I’m creating in every area of my life.
9. Social media shows a very close, authentic connection between you and your audience. How important is that direct relationship with your fans, and what message do you most want to send to the women who look up to you?
That connection means everything to me. I think people can feel when something is real, and I’ve always tried to show up in an honest, authentic way. For me, it’s not just about sharing beautiful moments, but also about sharing the truth of life—the growth, the challenges, the lessons, and the joy. That’s where real connection happens. And if there’s one message I want to send to women, it’s that you can evolve, reinvent yourself, and create a beautiful life on your own terms. You don’t have to choose just one version of yourself—you can be many things, and still be fully you.
10. Looking ahead, what can we expect from this new chapter — on Hoy Día, with VA by Ale Villegas, and in your personal life? What dreams are you still chasing, even while you’re living such a beautiful moment right now?
On Hoy Día, I’m excited to keep growing, connecting with the audience, and giving the very best of myself every morning. With VA by Ale Villegas, I want to continue building the brand in an even bigger way and reaching more women around the world. And through my digital platforms, I’m also excited about everything I’m creating from a business standpoint, because that space has become such an important part of my growth. Personally, my dream is to keep building a life that feels meaningful, joyful, and aligned in every way. Of course, there are still many dreams ahead—but I think the most beautiful part is being able to chase them while also being present enough to enjoy the moment I’m living right now.
